Abstract submissions are now closed.






This conference will feature empirical and normative investigation into ethical aspects of integrating research and clinical care. Featured speakers include Scott Kim, MD, PhD, NIH Department of Bioethics; Andrew Mulberg, MD, Amicus Therapeutics; and Kevin Weinfurt, PhD, Duke University School of Medicine.  We invite the submission of a wide variety of abstracts focusing on all aspects of the intersection of research and clinical care, including:

  • Emerging study methodologies
  • Advances in technology
  • Evaluating risk: theoretical as well as practical implications
  • Patients' access, rights, and expectations for clinical care

Abstracts will be accepted for works not currently published or accepted for publication. All abstracts will be considered for one of two types of presentations: podium or poster. Abstracts not accepted for podium presentation will be considered for poster presentation.

Podium:  Investigators selected for presentations will have 15 minutes to present their work, followed by 5 minutes of audience questions.
Poster: Accepted posters will be displayed during the conference on a provided board (approx. 4’ x 6’).

Submission requirements:

  • Identify the presenting author(s)
  • Completed electronic bio- disclosure for the presenter and any listed authors
  • Title
  • Abstracts for empirical studies must contain:  background, objectives, results, conclusions/implications for practice
  • 3500 character limit for all content

All abstracts must be received by December 2, 2016 at 11:59pm EST. 

Authors will be notified of acceptance by December 16, 2016.  All accepted presenters will be required to register and attend the conference.
