Overview
To provide a comprehensive course regarding state of the art scientific advancements regarding epidemiology and treatment and other organ dysfunction for neonates and children with or at-risk for acute kidney injury.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the epidemiology of AKI in neonates and children and their associated outcomes
  2. Discuss the impact of AKI on various disease states in critical illness
  3. Identify patient populations at risk for AKI
  4. Interpet the values of novel biomarkers and how to integrate them into clinical decision support
  5. Describe the full spectrum of pediatric and neonatal AKI with a focus on the critically ill patient with concomitant other organ dysfunction
  6. Discuss the complex interaction between the injured kidney in multi-organ failure, the issues and challenges for medical management in specific patient populations, and the potential role of novel biomarkers to aid in the diagnosis and management of pediatric AKI in various settings
  7. Describe the emerging evidence of the link between AKI and chronic kidney disease development
  8. Discuss the regulatory framework, and strategies to address it, or drug and device development for pediatric AKI
  9. Utilize simple patient focused methods to improve diagnosis and outcome for the patient with, or at-risk for AKI
  10. Describe the current state of AKI assessment and treatment across the world.
