There is often a long wait for specialty services, so it benefits the community if community healthcare teams can provide treatment in the practice setting whenever possible. Overview
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common pediatric inflammatory skin disorder, affecting about 15 to 20% of children. Food allergy is more common in children with AD, and the relationship between these two diseases is complex, often leading to misconceptions among patient families and even providers. In this session, we will review AD and food allergies throughout childhood, discuss the relationship between early-life eczema and development of food allergies, as well as review several areas of novel research investigating these diseases and their relationship.
