Building Bridges toward Equity: 2nd Annual Conference to Eliminate Racial Disparities in Breastfeeding and Infant Mortality

We know that breastfeeding positively impacts the life course of both maternal and child health, however, great inequities in breastfeeding initiation and duration rates still occur, particularly in the African American community.  We know that healthcare providers at all levels desire to be proactive in assisting all moms and families to make infant feeding choices that optimize the well-being of babies. Implicit bias plays a role in keeping us from applying our best effort in this endeavor. This conference will allow us to begin to unpack these biases in a safe space. We will learn how to help all mothers and babies reach their breastfeeding goals.

PHYSICIAN: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is accredited by the Accredita­tion Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. These activities have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

NURSES: Nurses in Ohio may use CME credit towards their RN licensure. CME credit trans­fers hour for hour.

LACTATION CONSULTANT CREDIT: Application for Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) has been submitted to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

DIETITIANS: A certificate of completion will be provided to RDs for entry into the RD CPE activity log.

SOCIAL WORKERS: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center – Social Ser­vices is an approved provider of Social Work continuing education, PROVIDER NUMBER: RSX069302, Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Social Work clock hours are pending.

ABP MOC part 2: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 6 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

All participants will receive a certificate of completion.
