This one day symposium for health care and community providers held to raise awareness of current mental health trends and their impact. As in year’s past we will be offering two sessions to best support our growing audience needs: Provider Session (Physicians, APRNs, and PAs ONLY) and General Session (All professionals). Both sessions will be held virtually and on the same day, May 13, 2022.

Provider Session: This session is for Physicians, APRNs, and PAs only:
This year we will focus on “Case Concepts in Mental Health.” As outlined below there are opportunities for community providers who are diagnosing and guiding treatment for patients with mental health needs.  

Topics:

  • Did you hear that? Psychosis in General Pediatric Practice
  • Understanding and Treating Youth with Somatic Symptoms
  • Aggression in Children in Primary Care
  • Clinical Guidance for Treating Youth with Concussion

Provider Session: 8am-12pm

General Session. This Session is for All professionals:
This session is for all professionals who care for or interact with children and adolescents with mental health needs. This year will focus on “Motivational Interviewing.”

Session Title: The What, Why, and How (and what Happens when Things Don't go According to Plan)

General Session – 1:00-3:30pm


Objectives
  1. Describe the current trends seen in common pediatric mental health diagnoses
  2. Describe basic treatment modalities and interventions utilized by the mental health care team
  3. Identify when appropriate to reassure parent or seek advanced care
  4. for additional objectives see CE Handout

Registration

Note: The provider session is for (Physician, APRN, PAs ONLY). If you register for this session and are not these professions, the registrar will automatically update your registration to the general session, which is from 1pm - 3:30pm.

Registration fees:
$25 – Afternoon only (All professionals)
$65 – Morning only (Physicians, APRNs, PAs ONLY)
$75 – Morning + Afternoon (Physicians, APRNS, PAs ONLY)

Late fee: $10 late fee begins 5/1/2022

Cancellation Policy (if applicable): 50% refunds will be provided until April 28, 2022.  No refunds will be provided after May 5, 2022.


Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Specific accreditation information will be provided for each activity.

CME: This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. (Both sessions)

MOC Part 2:  Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. (Provider session only)

Nursing:  This activity is approved for continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours. (Both sessions)

Social Work:  Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is an approved provider of continuing education credits by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, Provider # RSX030902. (General session only)

Counseling: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is an approved provider of professional counselor continuing education credits by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, Provider #RCX111201. (General session only)

Teaching:  Contact Hours of Educator Credit are provided.  Final approval of Certificates of Participation will be determined by your Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC).  Keep all Certificates of Participation with your Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP). (General session only)

Psychology:  Cincinnati Children’s is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association-CME Program to offer continuing education for psychologists.  Cincinnati Children’s (provider #310833936), maintains responsibility for the program.  (General session only)
