Overview

Join us for the 1st International Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Meeting on October 21, 2022. The meeting  is being jointly sponsored by the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Oishei Children’s Hospital, and Sofia’s Hope, and will held at the Westin Hotel in Cincinnati, OH. The purpose of the meeting is to bring together thought-leaders, practitioners, and advocates in the field of pediatric cardio-oncology for a uniquely focused session. Topics to be covered include:

  • Emerging therapies in pediatric cardio-oncology, including ICI, targeted therapies, CAR T-cell
  • Approach to therapy in patients with cardiotoxicity
  • Cardiometabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors in survivors of pediatric cancer
  • Cardio-protective strategies in cancer therapy
  • Surveillance for cardiotoxicity
  • Case presentations and patient discussion with experts in the field of cardio-oncology



Objectives
  1. 1. Give examples of the cardiovascular toxicities associated with novel/emerging pharmaco and radiotherapies used in the care of pediatric patients with cancer.
  2. 2. Summarize key elements of the surveillance and healthcare team management of cardiovascular disease in survivors of pediatric cancer.
  3. 3. Integrate practical knowledge on research gaps within pediatric cardio-oncology toward your own research program planning.

Late Physician - $325
Late Non-Physician/Trainee– $225

The International Cardio-Oncology Society will host a welcome reception including drinks and Hors d'oeuvres from 7:00-9:00 PM, Thursday, October 20th for all participants at the First International Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Conference.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Cincinnati Children’s, Oishei Children’s Hospital, and Sofia’s Hope.  Cincinnati Children’s is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

CME: This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. This activity is designed for the additional hours required for APRNs with prescriptive authority in Ohio.  

ABP MOC Part 2: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.  

CNE: This activity is approved for continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours.  This activity is designed for the additional hours required for APRNs with prescriptive authority in Ohio.

IPCE: This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
