Overview

Patients with various hemoglobinopathies are commonplace in our pediatric work. This session will be a review and update on newborn screening, responses needed and discussion of new treatments available.

Objectives: After this session, the learner will be able to describe hemoglobinopathies, review typical newborn screens, outline timing and indication for further testing of the patient, and describe new treatments available for treatment of hemoglobinopathies
