Overview

Neofest 2025 will explore the person-centered experience of receiving a serious prenatal diagnosis and pursuing care at an interdisciplinary Fetal Care Center. Advancements in fetal and perinatal therapies for a variety of life-altering conditions now offer soon-to-be parents from diverse backgrounds and cultures, access to state-of-the-art care for their unborn child. Experts from our very own Fetal Care Center and other experts in the field will share how they guide and support families through complex diagnoses, uncertain and unpredictable courses while providing comprehensive care for both the unborn child and family.

Objectives
  1. Recognize barriers that impact maternal-fetal care.
  2. Foster interprofessional collaboration to develop and implement innovative solutions that remove barriers to care.
  3. Promote teamwork among healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, family-centered care.
  4. Integrate interdisciplinary and culturally competent strategies that optimize fetal care outcomes.
  5. Discuss how recent medical advances in fetal care intersect with health policies and influence clinical decision-making.
  6. Identify opportunities to minimize or eliminate the impacts of social determinants of health in families' access to advanced fetal care.
  7. Discuss how culturally competent care fosters health equity and improves maternal-fetal outcomes.
  8. Examine barriers to trust and engagement in fetal diagnosis and intervention within diverse communities.
  9. Discuss innovative approaches, such as the donor breast milk fatwa, to clear barriers for specialized maternal-fetal care.
  10. Highlight the roles of fetal care team members in supporting families through the maternal-fetal journey.
  11. Discuss the comprehensive care pathway for fetal care patients, from initial admission, delivery, and post-partum care.
  12. Summarize key strategies for supporting families' continuity of care through NICU rounding, bereavement, and postpartum engagement activities.
  13. Discuss ways to enhance support for families through the fetal care process.
  14. Identify unique challenges to families of infants born with complex prenatal diagnoses throughout pregnancy, NICU admission and beyond.
  15. Reflect on the unique experiences of fetal care families and their role in shaping patient-centered care practices.
