On October 15th, 2021, the Perinatal Institute will be hosting it’s 20th Annual Regional Perinatal Summit! We will bring together clinical and public health leaders to review and discuss current perinatal issues, data, and ideas that can be addressed to improve pregnancy outcomes within the region. This year’s Summit, ”Preeclampsia Management and Outcomes,” features speakers including Dr. Kristin Coppage, System Chief, TriHealth Women’s Services, and Dr. Neera Goyal, Nemours/Al DuPont Hospital for Children, formerly of Cincinnati Children’s Perinatal Institute. Dr. Coppage will present “The Essentials of Preeclampsia” and Dr. Goyal will present “Late Preterm Infant Outcomes.” Their lectures will be complimented with nursing and public health presentations supporting quality improvement work and initiatives to improve hypertension and maternal health and infant outcomes.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the etiology, diagnosis and management of preeclampsia
  2. Summarize the recurrence risk of preeclampsia and preventative options in future pregnancies
  3. Explain the ACOG project Trihealth participated in and their improvement goal
  4. Describe the ODH/AIM project and the Trihealth project goal
  5. Outline current statewide initiatives to improve maternal health and infant outcomes
  6. Identify the strategy areas of the state maternal health strategic plan
  7. Discuss current trends and epidemiology of late preterm birth
  8. Describe both neonatal and early childhood outcomes associated with late preterm birth
  9. Explain the importance of multi-disciplinary teamwork in supporting the care the mother-infant dyad

SUMMIT PURPOSE
The purpose of the Annual Regional Perinatal Summit is to bring together clinical and public health leaders to review and discuss current perinatal issues, data, and ideas that can be addressed to improve pregnancy outcomes within the region.

SUMMIT DESCRIPTION
This year’s Summit will explore preeclampsia management, implementation of hypertension bundles, Ohio’s post-partum hypertension prevention and awareness initiatives, and late preterm infant outcomes. Participants will be better prepared to care for the hypertensive maternal patient and recognize late preterm infant risk factors thereby improving maternal health and infant outcomes.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The Annual Perinatal Regional Summit is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, genetic counselors, and other perinatal health professionals providing services to pregnant women and their families.

In support of improving patient care, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

CME: Cincinnati Children’s designates this live format for a maximum of 3.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing: This activity is approved for a maximum 3.25 continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours.

ABP MOC Part 2: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn 3.25 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
