Overview

The ADVANCE PHM 2022 Gender Equity Symposium will focus on developing change agents and leaders for equity in medicine. While the various disparities that exist in medicine are well known, changing culture, systems, and policies to alleviate these inequities has been slow. Clinicians in hospital medicine are uniquely positioned to become agents for change that lead efforts to promote equity. During this highly interactive and informative symposium, attendees will advance their knowledge and skills around identifying inequities in medicine, becoming influential leaders, stimulating change, navigating through challenges, and building their professional network to assist with their efforts as a change agent. The agenda will include inspiration, high yield content, quick hit, and panel sessions, as well as opportunities to come together as small groups in learning communities. While the content will be focused on mid to later career individuals in hospital medicine, all in the hospital medicine community are welcome to attend!

Symposium Learning Objectives:

At the end of the 2022 ADVANCE PHM Gender Equity Symposium, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify individual and system deficiencies that contribute to disparity and inequity in medicine
  • Evaluate their own leadership skillset and identify areas for improvement
  • Lead initiatives and culture change to alleviate disparities in medicine
  • Develop a network of allies and sponsors that will assist one in becoming a leader in equity initiatives
