Eliminating the Disparities in Breastfeeding and Infant Mortality:  Taking Action for Equity

Featured Speaker:

Camara Jones, MD, MPH, PhD
Senior Fellow, Satcher Health Leadership
Institute and Cardiovascular Research Institute
Adjunct Associate Professor, Community Health and Preventative Medicine
Morehouse School of Medicine

Breastfeeding positively impacts the life course of both maternal and child health including the reduction of infant mortality, yet inequities in breastfeeding initiation, duration, and exclusivity persist, particularly in the African American, Appalachian, and rural populations.  This year’s statewide conference, TAKING ACTION FOR EQUITY, a preconference to the Ohio Infant Mortality Summit, will provide plenary sessions and interactive workshops from successful leaders working across the continuum, from prenatal to postnatal care and beyond, to teach learners action tools that can be taken back to their community.
