Overview

This one day symposium for health care and community providers held to raise awareness of current mental health trends and their impact. As in year’s past we will be offering two sessions simultaneously to best support our growing audience needs: Provider Session and General Session. Both sessions will be held virtually and on the same day, September 17, 2021. 


Provider Session - 8am-12pm: This year we will focus on “Optimizing Care for the Suicidal Child.” As outlined below there are opportunities for community providers who are diagnosing and guiding treatment for patients with mental health needs.   This session is intended for community providers who are diagnosing patients and will focus on care for the suicidal child. 


General Session 8:55am-4pm: This year will focus on “Navigating our New Normal, Supporting Children with Mental Health Needs Post Pandemic.” As outlined below there are opportunities for community providers who are part of the pediatric mental health care team. Community Professionals who work with and support children and adolescents with mental or behavioral health issues in various settings such as: hospital, outpatient clinic, school, patient homes, medical practices in the community, etc. Professionals encouraged to participate include: social workers, nurses, school administrators & teachers, Child Life specialists,  physicians, psychologists, clinical counselors, chaplains, behavioral health specialists, hospital administrators, and other.

Note: The provider session is for staff embedded in a primary care office setting. If you register for this session and are not working in primary care, the registrar will automatically update your registration to the general session, which is from 8:55am-4pm.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Specific accreditation information will be provided for each activity.

CME: Cincinnati Children’s designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

ABP MOC Part 2:  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity and individual assessment of and feedback to the learner, enables the learner to earn up to 4.0 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs.

Nursing:  This activity is approved for a maximum 5.25 hours continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours. 

Social Work:  Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is an approved provider of continuing education credits by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, Provider # RSX030902.  This program is approved for 5.25 clock hours. Social Work program area: Social Work Methods (Cultural Humility & Intersectionality, Program Area: Ethics).

Counseling: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is an approved provider of professional counselor continuing education credits by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, Provider #RCX111201.  This program is approved for 5.25 clock hours. Counselor program area: Methods of Intervention and Prevention.

Teaching:  Contact Hours of Educator Credit are provided.  Final approval of Certificates of Participation will be determined by your Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC).  Keep all Certificates of Participation with your Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP). 

Psychology:  Cincinnati Children’s is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association-CME Program to offer continuing education for psychologists.  Cincinnati Children’s (provider #310833936), maintains responsibility for the program.  This program is approved for 5.25 hours.

Care Manager: This program has been pre-approved by The Commission for Case Manager Certification to provide continuing education credit to CCM® board certified case managers. The course is approved for 5.5 CE contact hour(s).

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
